During the Woodruff era, the Scenic Inn served lunches to prospective investors. Anna Walters, a Laguna Beach real estate agent and an early Dana Point developer, originally built the structure for her own investor luncheons. Developer Sidney H. Woodruff added its windows. At left, this 1920s photo shows a walkway leading to the Blue Lantern Gazebo and a viewpoint rest area. The inn was later destroyed by landslides and replaced with a picnic area and restrooms, which were also covered by slides, and one reason the historic gazebo is now fenced off.
